Harbor in our era is being reborn as future-oriented core site that plays the leading role in the severe international logistics competition as the center of innovation of advanced information, technology, communication and environment. They transcend from the previous function of an infrastructural facility that simply processes the transportation of people and cargoes efficiently through the mooring of ships and loading/unloading works in the capacity of simple transportation facility.
Seoyoung Engineering, having begun with the New Busan Harbor in 1999 and continuing with the New Northern Harbor of Yeosu in 2014, have participated in the reorganization and development of wide range of harbors including international trading ports, coastal ports and local fishing ports of Korea. Moreover, through our participation in the projects for the development of harbor in overseas countries including Ghana, Uruguay, Saudi, Fiji, etc., we have proved that our harbor technology can also be applied and is competitive internationally.
Not stopping at such achievements, we are currently executing the private and public sector marina projects by utilizing the technological capabilities on marina facilities acquired through the successful completion of the marina projects such as Gimpo Marina. In addition, we have managed to create new harbor and maritime water spaces through ceaseless technology development including the inventing of patents with outstanding hydraulic innovations through our participation in large scale turn-key projects such as Busan new port, Ulsan new port, Hongdo port, etc.
Seoyoung Engineering, on the basis of the know-how and technological capabilities acquired through our abundant experiences in a wide range of harbor projects and the vision of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of “Realization of the dreams and happiness of people through the ocean,” shall continue to grow through endless research and development to ensure that the harbors will be reborn as the futuristic venue for the creation of highly added values.
Construction, as the substitute harbor of the New Yeosu Port, to hold the Yeosu World Expo in 2012, is aimed reallocate the service vessels and government’s vessel port for the enhancement of the port support services of Gwangyang Port, construction of pier dedicated for the maritime police in preparation for prompt maritime rescue, the activation of the local tourism industry associated with the Expo facilities, etc.
Port structures can be divided into outer facilities and docking facilities. The berthing facilities are constructed after the completion of the outer facilities such as breakwater for the purpose of loading and unloading cargos and transporting passengers from and onto the ships by having the ship dicked at a location within the harbor. Recently, it become the most technologically intensive and core facility among all the harbor structures through the planning of the waterfront facilities. For the docking facility at the New Yeosu North Port, planned with 200m of quay wall of the management wharf, 422m of revetment, 9 pontoons (each with the length of 40m), 150m of lighters wharf and 430m of maritime police wharf, the durability, berth capability for the ships, stability against various external forces and soft ground improvement, as well as the stability at the time of earthquake through seismic design, reduction of reflected waves in a port, and application of perforated type block cross-section that employed the latest engineering technique through multifaceted design analysis are provided. Moreover, pontoons were planned for the convenience of the berthing of small vessels less than 200 tons.
In addition, we secured safe depth of the water within the harbor through the decision making on the appropriate dredging depth for the purpose of safe navigation and shipdocking within the harbor. After completion of landfill, waterfront sector and greenery sector were planned in the hinterland of the harbor to attract local tourism in association with the beautiful maritime scenery of Hallyeohaesang National Park and Odongdo Island, and Expo facilities.
We designed of the New Yeosu North Port by mobilizing the accumulated know-how and technological capabilities of Seoyoung Engineering to achieve the development of futuristic and highly value added harbor. On the foundation of our successful completion of the designing of the New Yeosu North Port, we shall continue to put further efforts to develop the most advanced harbors.
