The project for the detailed design for constructing expressway from Hamyang~Ulsan (Lot-4 & 13) focused on the establishment of the plans for more assertive expansion of the SOC and road networks for which the development has been promoted along with the completion of the 7 sessions of the 5 year’s planning of Economic Development in Korea.
Therefore, it is forecasted that continuous investments will be made into the Expressways for the future-oriented transportation road system by establishing the expressway network that complies with the balanced development of the national geography and rapidly increasing demand for transportation.
In stride with the a trend, this Project will promote the development of the northern region of Gyeongnam for which the development is relatively lagging behind the surrounding regions by constructing expressway to supplement span of the east to west axis 1 and 2 (70km) of the national arterial road network plan (7x9) established by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation in 1992. The road is wider than the average span of the East-West arterial road network (30~40km), and to play the role of the arterial pass for the industries and tourism that connects the Yeongnam and Honam Regions by the Iksan~Jangsu Expressway.
